The mystery of where the milk went to was soon cleared up. It was mixed every day into the pigs' mash. The early apples were now

ripening, and the grass of the orchard was littered with windfalls. The animals had assumed as a matter of course that these would be shared out equally; one day, however, the order went forth that all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the harness-room for the use of the pigs. At this some of the other animals murmured, but it was no use. All the pigs were in full agreement on this point, even Snowball and Napoleon. Squealer was sent to make the necessary explanations to the others.
–Animal Farm,

George Orwell

The responses are: - "The animals had assumed as a matter of course that these would be shared out equally." - "All the windfalls were to be collected... for the use of the pigs." - "All the pigs were in full agreement on this point, even Snowball and Napoleon." In the initial statement, "animals" refers to the general populace, who naively believes they will be treated equally. In the other two statements, the pigs represent the leaders who believe they inherently deserve more than the rest of the animals. The critique derived from 'Animal Farm' highlights that true power should originate from the masses, with leaders being chosen to serve everyone's interests rather than being treated specially. The narrative depicting animals serves as a satire of communism in the Soviet Union, which professes to benefit the populace, ensuring equality while criticizing capitalism for fostering inequality. The author, George Orwell, points out how communist leaders abandon this ideal when they see themselves as superior to others.

In at least 100 words, describe how Socrates often uses rhetoric to express his central ideas.
Naddika [7460]
He was a Sophist who had a wealthy father that financed his studies with Protagoras, Prodicus of Cheos, and Gorgias. Possessing a gentle disposition and suffering from stage fright made him realize that this would hinder his political ambitions, prompting him to become a speechwriter and, later, a notable educator. He aimed to convince his fellow Sophists that every component of language is rooted in rhetorical invention, emphasizing that word choice and style are reflections of the speaker's persona. He believed that a speaker’s delivery significantly affects persuasion. He sought to align meaning with rhythm. From Isocrates, Aristotle recognized that humans are distinct from animals due to their capacity for speech, that ethos holds prime importance in persuasion, and that rhetoric is an art rather than a science. Isocrates taught his students that grasping civic virtue enables sound decision-making, and rhetoric serves to justify those choices.
