Read the excerpt from “The Scarlet Ibis.” Doodle was frightened of being left. “Don’t go leave me, Brother,” he cried, and he le

aned toward the coffin. His hand, trembling, reached out, and when he touched the casket he screamed. A screech owl flapped out of the box into our faces, scaring us and covering us with Paris green. Doodle was paralyzed, so I put him on my shoulder and carried him down the ladder, and even when we were outside in the bright sunshine, he clung to me, crying, “Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me.” What do Doodle’s repeated pleas of “Don’t leave me” foreshadow? Once the narrator returns to school, he leaves Doodle at home and forgets all of his plans to help him. After Doodle refuses to touch the casket, the narrator refuses to help Doodle and leaves him alone in the loft. Later in the story, the narrator races ahead and leaves Doodle to struggle behind during a terrible storm. When Doodle struggles to learn to walk, the narrator leaves and Doodle is left sitting alone in Old Woman Swamp.

As Doodle continuously cries, "Don't leave me. Don't leave me," readers are alerted to the inevitable departure of his brother, which will end in tragedy. Doodle, who is inherently frail, is loved by the narrator despite his struggles with their relationship. While he remains weak, Doodle ultimately learns to crawl, and the narrator is determined to help him walk so that he can fit into the norm. The two practice in secrecy, and soon Doodle is able to walk. However, the narrator is not content and pushes his ailing brother further. They train in a remote swamp to avoid detection. A storm abruptly arrives, and exhausted from practice, Doodle cannot run home. The narrator escapes the storm but returns to find Doodle collapsed and deceased. The blood on Doodle's neck parallels the fate of the scarlet ibis they had discovered dead earlier. Both were delicate beings who perished alone. The narrator bears some responsibility for urging Doodle beyond his limits and abandoning him during the terrifying storm. Thus, the repetition of Doodle's plea, "Don't leave me," serves as poignant foreshadowing for when "the narrator rushes ahead, leaving Doodle to struggle in the storm."

The comment on the prior answer is the most insightful I've ever encountered. Why can't people just be straightforward? They're merely squandering their time writing all that.

Flura [7041]

Answer:

assess and analyze the implications

Explanation:

"Is Kimi going to accept her friend's drug use invitation?"

This inquiry can be answered with a simple yes or no, yet the process of making that decision is more complex.

Kimi is aware of the dilemma and has no alternative choices aside from yes or no. Her friend's choices do not impact her evaluation because the focus is on her health, not her friend's. Ultimately, Kimi needs to comprehend the health consequences of agreeing to participate. Is it a wise choice?
