Why did many Americans criticize the Troubled Asset Relief Program?

Many Americans criticized the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) because it provided aid to the institutions that had triggered the financial crisis.

Congress authorized TARP in October 2008, initially allocating $700 billion for government intervention; that figure was later reduced to $475 billion in 2010 by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The US Treasury Department "established several programs under TARP to help stabilize the U.S. financial system, restart economic growth, and prevent avoidable foreclosures" (US Department of the Treasury information). The largest portions of the funds went to the banking sector ($250 billion) and to American International Group (AIG) ($70 billion). Those financial institutions were major contributors to the market collapse, yet because they were deemed "too big to fail," the government provided bailouts. The US auto industry also received bailout assistance ($82 billion). About $46 billion was designated for homeowner programs to prevent foreclosures, but that aid was viewed as small relative to the vast sums given to the firms and industries that helped cause the housing and economic crisis.

The chief objection many Americans had to TARP was that it seemed unjust to use taxpayer funds to rescue the banks whose risky actions helped trigger the financial crisis.

Which statements describe a result of Gitlow v. New York? Check all that apply. Through incorporation, the First Amendment appli
Artemon [1526]

I think the following points are correct:

- The First Amendment was applied to state law through incorporation.

- The superiority of the Constitution over state law was established by the Fourteenth Amendment.

- The Bill of Rights can be incorporated using the due process clause.

The ruling in Gitlow v. New York is recognized as a pivotal decision that limited the free speech clause of the First Amendment, enabling the government to restrict free speech when it endorses violence.

Watch this video of US oil company owner T. Boone Pickens discussing OPEC. Why does Pickens want the United States to be more in
marta [1352]

Which piece of art is most similar to Marcel Duchamp's ready-made pieces?
marta [1352]

Answer:

A low-cost umbrella displayed in a glass case

Explanation:

The work of art that most closely resembles Marcel Duchamp’s ready-made creations is a low-cost umbrella placed in a glass case.

Marcel Duchamp, a Dada movement pioneer, challenged the conventional notions surrounding sophisticated art. In the aftermath of World War 1, many preconceived ideas about art existed, which Duchamp confronted with his innovations. He gathered everyday items and showcased them as art pieces. One notable quote from Duchamp states, “By merely selecting an ordinary object, one can raise it to the level of art.” Thus, with reference to the question, the art piece most akin to Duchamp’s ready-mades is a low-cost umbrella displayed in a glass case.
