Dear Congressman,

I am writing this email to voice my thoughts concerning the discretionary federal funding allocations in the current year in relation to the budget set in 2016. President Obama presented his fiscal strategy ensuring that the nation's priorities were addressed. The allocations included; $1.3 Trillion, with the following breakdown:

- 54% directed towards Military expenditures

- 6% allocated to Medicare, Education, Veterans' Benefits, Housing, and Community

- 5% spent on Government services

- 4% toward Energy, Employment, and International Affairs

- 3% going to Science

- 2% on Transportation

- 1% for Food and Agriculture

This year, an increase in the spending bill proposed by Trump is expected. Reports from the CBO suggest this increase or deficit ranks as the fifth highest in U.S. history, with Trump holding the third-highest deficit.

I personally believe the top three areas needing enhancement compared to the 2016 budget are Education, Employment, and the Agriculture Department.

For example, staffing cuts at the USDA have repercussions for employment as well.

In the case of Education, student debt levels are alarmingly high, and there should be a reevaluation of scholarships, aid, and grants for both private and state schools.

Given the significance of these sectors for many citizens, I hope you will consider this proposal aimed at enhancing the country's economy.

Answer:

The foremost three areas for discretionary spending in the 2015 federal budget were net interest expenses, various income security measures, and ongoing defense operations. In upcoming budgets, I suggest the federal government should consider augmenting funding for military personnel, education and job training, and pollution control measures.

As per the 2015 federal budget, the government is expected to allocate $250,914 million for ongoing defense operations, equipment, and supplies, while $148,125 million is apportioned for military personnel. Increasing funding for military personnel next year could indirectly bolster the nation’s defense capabilities.

Another vital sector for funding increases is education and job training, as equipping youth with proper job training and practical courses can help mitigate unemployment rates. Investing in workforce development fosters skill acquisition, enhancing overall productivity.

Lastly, the rise in vehicles and factories has significantly elevated pollution levels. By investing more in pollution control initiatives, we can safeguard public health and diminish the risks associated with pollution.

Which speaker would baron de montesquieu most likely agree with?
tigry1 [1399]
Speaker 1: Society benefits from the will of the people.
Speaker 2: Individuals trade some of their freedoms for governmental protection.
Speaker 3: A government should consist of branches that are distinct yet equal.
Speaker 4: Governmental authority is granted by the people.

It is most probable that Baron de Montesquieu would align with Speaker 3, as he was the first to suggest that a government ought to be divided into separate but equal branches (namely, executive, legislative, and judicial) to ensure no single branch can dominate the others, serving as a check on democracy.

A common finding in the study of aggression is that exposure to television is associated with increased aggressive behavior in c
enot [1359]

Response:

C) the third-variable criterion

Rationale:

In this context, the variables of interest are children's exposure to television and their corresponding levels of aggression. The independent variable is the children's exposure to television, while the dependent variable is the child's aggression.

Nevertheless, you are questioning whether another factor, peer pressure, influences these two variables. When a separate variable affects two other variables, it is referred to as the third-variable criterion. Thus, I focus on the third-variable criterion.
