I recall learning about the Black Death last year, and I found out that there was a related song called Ring Around the Rosie. The lyrics touch upon aspects of that time period: the 'ring around the Rosie' refers to the disease, 'pocket full of posies' implies carrying flowers to mask the scent of decay, 'ashes ashes' signifies the burning of bodies, and 'we all fall down' represents death, depicting stages of the plague. It seems the individuals afflicted by the disease simply desired everyone infected to perish.
