This is a question about how abstract structures are made into narratives. every culture makes distinctions between what is insi

de the social order and what is outside, between the human and the non-human (a category which can include animals, plants, natural processes, monsters and the miraculous). cultures organize themselves to contain or exclude these “outside” things; social organization also works to control certain violent human tendencies inside the culture (anger, lust, fear, greed, etc.). how does the social world depicted in beowulf do this? that is, what does it exclude, and why? what is its attitude towards the “outside” of culture? how does it control the forces that threaten social stability within the hall?

In Beowulf, the Outside is perceived as a menace, for only within the grand hall, where the king and his warriors reside, is there safety; the monster Grendel emerges from beyond (aiming to assault humans) where perilous and malevolent beings dwell. Grendel embodies fury and insanity, representing the primal aspects that humans dread, whereas Beowulf, as an archetypal hero, symbolizes mastery over mystical forces and nature; he also signifies dominance and potency. Consequently, the notion of humans asserting control over both magical and natural elements is established. Additionally, it is customary in mythologies that distant realms or the outer world are seen as mysterious and hazardous places where no one dares venture, or from which threats originate.

OLga [1687]
Individuals who are intrinsically motivated typically work harder and find greater enjoyment in their tasks. Their motivation stems from internal desires, such as the pursuit of learning, new experiences, and personal growth. Conversely, those who are extrinsically motivated seek specific material rewards, which do not drive them as powerfully as intrinsic factors.
