Sample response:

Olaudah Equiano was filled with terror when he first glimpsed the slave ship. His dread of the unknown future was so intense that he fainted. By observing his captors, who looked very different from himself and the other enslaved individuals, he realized he would never return home. The conditions aboard the ship were dreadful, with foul odors that made him feel sick. When he refused food, he was subjected to beatings.

The narrative opens by describing Equiano's childhood. He was born in the region now known as Nigeria. At around eleven years old, he was kidnapped by slave traders and transported to America. Equiano served on various ships and visited numerous countries. Eventually, a man in Philadelphia bought him. He managed to save enough money to buy his freedom in 1766. Afterward, Equiano settled in Europe, continued traveling widely, and ultimately authored his autobiography, which was published in two volumes in 1789.
