Economic specialists have identified several shortcomings in the RSA's industrial development zones. These include revenue losses that result from various tax exemptions and considerations. Many traders are present in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), allowing them to purchase goods at lower rates and develop a land bank for utilization. The number of units seeking establishment as Enterprises of One Unit (EOU) is not proportional to the applications for SEZs, raising concerns that the expected outcomes from RSA's industrial zones may fall short.
